Community Development

   All of us have been member of some community from the large global community to local home towns and villages. Join the two terms common and unity and realize a reality of human being community. Community development is a process in which community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems. Social, economic, cultural and environmental wellbeing of community often emerges from such type of collective action being taken at a grassroots level.   

Community development is a process or a way of doing things. It can:

1. Bring people together
2. Promote knowledge, skills, confidence and the  capacity to act together
3. Strengthen organization and leadership within communities
4. Strengthen contacts between communities

Good community development work is done in ways which challenge disadvantage and tackle inequalities.  It involves changing the relationships between ordinary people and people in positions of power.

Having more than half of a decade experience in this field, college has decided to open a new department ”Department of Community Development” known as ‘PUNYA’ to deal with the community problems in variety of ways i.e. rural health, education, sanitation, environmental issues, woman empowerment, health awareness programmes etc.
